Abstract

This study aims to determine the experiences and social and psychological impacts experienced by housewives in Medan Amplas District regarding the use of online loans. The research method used was qualitative research with a descriptive approach. The study was conducted among housewives in Medan Amplas District. Data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that online loans are interpreted as an alternative solution to the financial limitations of housewives. The main motive for using online loans is driven by urgent needs, including meeting family needs, personal needs, and additional business capital. Initially, there are feelings of joy, relief, and help when using online loans. However, anxiety arises due to a lack of literacy regarding the use of online loans. Socially, online loans play a role in maintaining social relations but also have the potential to trigger conflict in the household. Psychologically, the use of online loans has an impact on financial stress, anxiety, and discomfort related to the use of online loan services
